is there a way on microsoft word to make everything you typed go from all caps to lowercase without retyping?

if you click on the 'format' menu along the top, in the drop down list there is an option to 'change case'

The fastest way is using Shift + F3

Depends on the version of MS Word, in some versions it cannot be done.
