My high school German teacher always told us "German is an easy language". I found it easy to learn, as some of the words sound the same as English words--example:

Braun=Brown Means the same thing and is pronounced the same.

No its not hard at all to learn. Its really easy because you already know some German words like Kindergarten, and more. But the only thing with learning German for me has been Grammar!!! It Has no Mercy for you, so dont Discouraged when you get into Grammar. But other than that it is Easy to Learn.

Your question is incomplete!
You should have asked "Is German hard to learn when your mother language is English (or Hindi, ...)?
There are no difficult or easy languages.
German and English are Germanic languages and you'll find that many words are quite similar. The grammar is different, of course but less than (for you, if your mother language is English) for ex. Russian grammar.
I don't think that German can be very difficult for an intelligent, motivated, English mother language student.
At any rate, I don't see which foreign language could be less difficult in your situation!

Well, if whether or not a language is easy or hard is the most important reason for studying it or not, it might be hard for you....

I study German because I generally love the language and the culture. Some people say the grammar is hard, but I think they say that just because they're not very good at it. I honestly don't have much trouble with it.

Never accept a gift from a German. It is however okay to accept a present.

Once went into a souvenir shop here named Das Gift Haus. I asked the cashier if they got many German tourists in the shop. She said no, not really, why? I told her I was just wondering. I didn't tell her what the name of the shop meant in German. The Poison (or venom) House.

I have spoken German fluently since the age of 4. My native language is Greek and when I moved to America I had to learn English. Trust me, if you can learn English, you can definitely learn German.

It is difficult, I'm not going to mislead you...
The saying is "Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache."
The German language is a hard language...
I learned it because my family is German but it is a hard language. There are 3 genders, masculine, feminine, neuter. I teach Spanish and it is an easier language to learn.

As long as you pay attention and don't fall behind, it's not that hard. I took German and Spanish all 4 years of high school and neither one of them was too bad.
