It bas been my experience to google search the specific device you are concerened with.

You might need to go to several sites, actually. NTE would be a good site for semi-conductors. Digi-key in Thief River Falls, MN would be a good source for information since they sell a plethora of electronic parts. A web search for "electronic component symbols" might be the easier way to get what you are after.
