I got a "Toronto CityGuide" by Discovery Channel. In their Kennsingtin Market section it says it has one of Canada's only cannabis cafes called "Hot Box", where you can smoke and eat hemp seed sandwiches. I was under the impression that while decriminlized, marijuana was still illegal. I'm curious, is it allowed in a place like this "cannabis cafe"?

Yes, there is a cafe called the Hot Box, and yes it is one of Canada's only cannabis cafes, however I am NOT recommending going. As far as I have heard, there can sometimes be a lot of hassle going in, since it IS an offense to have a certain amount of pot on you (more then 1/4 oz I believe) and illegal to have your pot divided (little bags, all containing a dime makes you automatically a seller, etc). As well, it is illegal to ask anyone else in the place for pot, including your friend, illegal to ask anyone if they want a drag, etc.

Basically, you can smoke pot, but you have to buy something, can only stay an hour, and unless you have one jay, smoke the whole thing, and don't share it with a soul, it isn't really worth it.

They have a website for more info at http://www.roachorama.com/hotbox/

Marijuana is illegal, and you would not get away with selling it in a store. Fortunately, with the lighter rules, Canada has legalized harmless hemp products. Why is something illegal that you can't smoke and get high from it? Farmers can grow it and they say it is good for hemp rope, hemp fiber, hemp oil, etc. They will put in baking goods and tell you it is good for you. But we all know they do it for the taste. But the stuff is legal and DOESN'T get you high.

It's like eating a poppy seed bagel.
