No really, I need some straight info from folks who've been there recently, on a weekday. We've only got 1.5 days in NYC (so sad, I know!) and my kiddo is absolutely SET on getting as up close and personal with the Lady as security will allow.

We've pre-purchased our tickets and monument pass...but the reviews on travel sites about the lines, even mid-week, have me pretty freaked.

What's been your experience?

Well I went on the trip last September and we were later than the start time advised (got lost on the subway!) and still managed to make our ferry for the correct time. And it was a Saturday morning.

As said there are plenty of street entertainers so the time passes pretty quickly. However the main thing is the amount of security. We went to a lot of places on our Boston/NY/Washington holiday (including the UN building) and this was by far the worst security we came across. Bags searched, body pat downs and even a machine that blows puffs of air up and down you! Seriously it was a nightmare. That's what takes the time not the queues. And you can't take your bag into the statue. You have to leave it in a locker. So make sure you have change for that. And don't try to sneak it in cos if they find it you have to go to the back of the queue!

However despite all that it was well worth it.

I've had the chance to go to the Statue of Liberty 4 times in two weeks because i had to take family members that arrived 4 separate times there. Post-Easter weekend is actually one of the better holiday weekends to go. The worst would be Memorial Day weekend and the 4th of July weekend.

In that two week period, i went on a memorial day weekend, and the lines were not very bad. An hour and a half wait is VERY decent for such a busy holiday such as Memorial Day for the Statue of Liberty

The Ferry lines are relatively quick. It seriously looks intimidating, but the line goes by quick, and you'll have some street entertainers while you're on line. However, be prepared for an airport-like security screen: x-ray and metal detectors.

The statue lines are a little longer, about an hour and a half. But i think it's definitely worth it... Have fun on your trip!

you have a solid factor, yet we authentic Christians do no longer pray to it, bow all the way down to it, or worship it. the emblem is a easy for liberty for all to work out. yet is being abused as enormous government is in that technique of taking that liberty away. base line it has no ability to maintain liberty, as no statue has ability over us until we enable it. We the christians have our liberty in Jesus Christ from the debt of sin by his Grace on my own, by his love and sacrifice for us..

The lines are always bad, it will be the same as always, but be prepared to only walk up half the steps in the Statue.

i haven't been there since after 9/11, but before 9/11 and all the security it was pretty crowded. I would suggest getting their as early as possible, like as soon as the ferries open.
