Good news. Alhamdulillah.

A good book is The Religion of Islam by Maulana Muhammad Ali, nut it is long and kinda centered on law and doctrine, instead of meanings of those laws and doctrines.

www.islamicity.com is a good site to visit. Also try www.quranexplorer.com/quran/ or www.freekoran.com. The former is a site with the whole quran on it with a recitation you can play in both English and Arabic. The latter is where you can order and actual bound Koran for free.

The Koran will be your best source for knowledge. If you end up buying one, Yusuf Ali and N.J. Dawood are pretty good translations.

I don't really know of many books to suggest, but if you need any answers, I'm open to questions and may be able to help as will other brothers and sisters on this site, inshallah. You can send messages over Yahoo Answers.

Hope I helped.

The Quran is always a good book to read when trying to learn about Islam. If you're looking for simpler fare, try the new Knights of Arabia series by Aisha Bilal (more specifically, her Muslim Knights sub-series).
