There's one difference between a sales director and an acount director; the account director is also responsible for marketing and customer service. More responsiblility but usually better pay as well. Your day will most likely be consumed between upper management and the people who actually make the money... sales people. It'll start out in the morning with the hung over sales people bitchin' about their personal lives (as director you will have to determine if any of these things will affect their work), then you will try to go into your office and analyze some sales figures and marketing objectives... figure out where you are today. Just when you start to get a picture on things and start talking to some people about what is happening... the secretary or the boss (or both) will suddenly be in your office saying that you are late for the unannounced meeting and everyone is waiting for you. In the meeting, you will be blamed for failures and somewhat credited with successes. You will be given new directions for the entire dept. while some sales person is on hold with a client who is mad and wants to fuss at somebody... being you. Then, when all that is tied up... it will be time for first break... about 10am or so. I'll be honest, it is rewarding and high paying, but you HAVE to love it or you will never last. You must love the people, you must love the action and NEVER fall in love with anything that you're not willing to loose the bet over.
