On my 98 Ford Explorer the OD (overdrive) light frequently blinks, even when just idiling at a light. It is engauged but will blink in or out of gauge.
Anyone know what is the problem?

There can be a number of reasons that this is happeing. Many nationwide transmission chains will scan this free. It could be something as simple as low on fluid. Its not usually a wiring problem it sometimes can be the trasmission od shift soloniod cutting in and out causing the light to blink because you over drive is turning on and off.

sounds like your switch or wiring to switch is shorted or you have a internal trans problem.Take it to ford & have them scan it.Good luck
