OK this is my opinion, and it's a bit mixed:
Genesis says that GOD created the world in 7 days, yes? However, humans take 7 days to mean 7 days that take 24 hours, or how long it takes for the Earth to make a full revolution. That does not necessarily mean that GOD defines a day this way, too. To humans, GOD's definition of a day could actually be 7 millenia, or any number of any time, or not even any time at all! Therefore, who can say that evolution and Genesis can't both be right? GOD could have created man in HIS definition of one day, which would be thousands of years to us.
Also, keep in mind that GOD did not write the Bible; prophets did. GOD showed a vision to a prophet, who then proceeded to write the vision down. If GOD had showed the prophet everything according to HIS definition of time, it might have taken longer than the prophet's life could have allowed. Therefore, the prophet was probably shown the vision in a succinct way that he could understand.
I personally believe that evolution is PROOF of Genesis, and therefore PROOF of the existence of GOD. ^_^

Evolution, as defined by Websters, is this....
Main Entry: evo·lu·tion
Pronunciation: "e-v&-'lü-sh&n, "E-v&-
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin evolution-, evolutio unrolling, from evolvere
1 : one of a set of prescribed movements
2 a : a process of change in a certain direction : UNFOLDING b : the action or an instance of forming and giving something off : EMISSION c (1) : a process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse to a higher, more complex, or better state : GROWTH (2) : a process of gradual and relatively peaceful social, political, and economic advance d : something evolved
3 : the process of working out or developing
4 a : the historical development of a biological group (as a race or species) : PHYLOGENY b : a theory that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modifications in successive generations; also : the process described by this theory
5 : the extraction of a mathematical root
6 : a process in which the whole universe is a progression of interrelated phenomena
What does this mean? Well, to me, basically it's simple.........an item (living in some form) adjusts to it's environment. As it makes those adjustments, they are either good for it, or bad for it. If good for it, eventually, those changes will become permanent. If bad, those changes will be weeded out over time.
When you ask if I believe in evolution, the answer is yes, under those terms. If you asked if I believe in the evolution of humans, then yes, I would probably have to agree that it's virtual fact. We, as humans, have changed tremendously over 1000's of years. We have learned........we have grown.........we have aged.
Now, if you are asking if I believe that humans developed from monkeys, as it were, then I would have to say that it's probable. Apes are the closest thing on this earth to humans......physiologically, emotionally, and mentally. At some point, some stresser caused some apes to shift, or change, to fit into a new situation. The ones that changed became humans as we know them today.
Makes a whole lot more sense than saying poof, we arrived.

my understanding of evolution is the thoery that was given by charles darwin showing that the natural order of things, over a period of time that is immense will produce beings that are intelligent grown from beings that show a physical and mental changing into a superior being that is smart enough to kill the live things, pollute the very air that he breaths, bring adversity to the beings that are like him only different color and blame God for the conditions he has created. The thoery of evolution is mans interpretation of his existance historically that is easier to believe than the thoery of creation.

My understanding of Evolution is far too detailed for this forum. Here's you a link to a WONDERFUL site:
http://www.talkorigins.org/origins/faqs-evolution.html
The TalkOrigins website is THE site for learning about Evolution. It can tell you about it in language from beginner to advanced and is a site created by scientists to teach people about Evolution. And you're much better off getting your information from a scientist about it than from anyone else.

No I do not believe it. I did not come from a monkey. God said in the book of Genesis that we are created in His image. Darwin has led a lot of people down a false road!

Of course I believe it.
the only people who don't believe it are one's who get their scientific knowledge from a 3,000 year old text. they had'nt a clue back then ... so they said that it must be a miracle.
