I have had my dog for about 3 years. She always wined when I went outside or even left the room that she was in. I can't even go to the bathroom without her trying to open it and come and visit. When I am outside I usually let her run loose, my dad is around and she usually doesn't run away. When I hook her up to her leash she wines and wines and breaks her collar. How can I get her to get over this clingyness and let me go to the bathroom without her scratching at the door????

If your concerned. try putting her in a room alone and dont give in. When you see she has relaxed then let her out and show her you are still there. You might want to invest in a cage. These work great for leaving. When you go out put her in. Then when you come home reward her for a good job. I have volunteered with animals so I know what I am saying

Your dog has a major case of separation anxiety. I feel your pain, my dog can be the same way sometimes. Does she have an adequate supply of toys? Is there any way to get her a friend to play with? Just don't be afraid to show her a little bit of tough love. It will break your heart more than it breaks hers.

Be grateful you only have one..Try having 8 that does the same thing. I have not gone to the bathroom myself in years. Your dog loves you and that is her way of showing it. Try not to complain to much one day she will be gone and you will be wanting to have these things back you are complaining about.
