Hernias are really very common. Once spotted they are unlikely to be dangerous. They are holes/tears in muscle tissue. Some people live for years with hernias, even in their heart. It is cured by a simple keyhole operation and sometimes even that is unnecessary. Please don't worry about your granddad. As long as he gets his condition seen to, he should be fine. Just give him plenty of attention and love and let him know you love him. That should keep him happy, and should make you happy too. please don't worry. Why not look on google and read up on this common complaint, it may set your mind at rest.

Honey, there are different types of hernia's but to ease your mind you should go to webmd.com. I don't think that he would die from a hernia, I have never heard of that happening. You could also go to ASK.COM. Good Luck!

a hernia can become caught between two muscles the blood supply will be cut off, and gangrene will set in.. the gangrene can kill him unless surgery is performed. The hernia all by itself will or can give him pain, but will not kill him.
