I wanted to get everything done professionally, and I just called where I usually go and get my hair cut for some prices on updo's etc. Is this all pretty well average?
Updo - $65
Make-up - $45 (for the bridesmaids)
- $60 (for the bride)
Nails I'm doing myself, because I like the way I do french manicures better anyways. WHY oh WHY does my makeup cost more? Does that sound right to anyone!? Also, for the trial run for the hair, it would be the exact same price, I guess I kinda expected that, but wish it wern't so, lol. I asked if the price went up or down for the updo's based on length of hair and what needed to be done, she said no. Make sense? Should I shop around? When I go get my hair cut there, it's about $35. It's a spa mind you, not just a hairdresser. Any advice is appreciated, thanks! :)

it is more bc you are a bride. I promise that. I would go to the mall, get your hair done there and then go t oa make up counter that does complimentary make overs. The worst, you might be obligated to make 2 purchases, but even that, they can't require you to do. However, I did that and I liked my make up there and I just might stick with that!!
Good luck!!!!
Oh, and yes, up do's typically cost more depending on legnth of hair

I just scheduled mine yesterday as well, and the salon that I go to usually charges $45 to get my hair cut. They are charging $45 for my updo, and $35 and up for the bridesmaids. They are charging $20 for just a hairstyle for my mother. Makeup is the same for me and my bridesmaids and they're charging $25. They are also bringing in food, wine, and soft drinks at no extra expense. Plus, they said they will call a couple months in advance and there might be a package price available.
Yours seems a little pricey compared to mine. You might just want to make a couple more calls just to find out. Mine is not a spa, although it is a 5 star salon.

I would definitely say spas are on the pricier end. I got married a few years back and I had my hair and makeup done at a spa. It wasn't cheap, but I also planned on it being a once in a lifetime deal for me to get pampered by having my makeup done. They had good techniques for making my makeup last all day so that was a plus. I would recommend having lipstick and eyeshadow shades in mind in advance. I didn't like my makeup artist's color choices, and I think that issue could have been avoided by me speaking with her in advance and me doing a little thinking about it too beforehand (as if there is not already enough to think about!) I definitely suggest going for a neutral look...a timeless look that you won't hate in 10 years!
Updos were a flat rate, and the practice updo for myself was the same exact price as it was on my wedding day. It stinks! My friend got married a year ago and she found two girls that specialized in updos and were willing to come to the church (or other venue) to do the bride's and bridesmaid's hair. It was a really nice relaxing time having all of us in the same place getting our hair done together. (One of the bridemaid's even painted my toenails for me while I got my hair done :) Plus no one had to rush out to get to the church because we were already there! It made for a very relaxed atmostphere. We all got done early and went out for a light lunch and a drink or two before the ceremony! It was also a plus to have the same two girls do all of our hair. They gave us similar styles so that we looked like a well put together group. Best wishes!

I strongly suggest doing your own makeup. You'll look much better. All of the professional makeup applications I've seen have been horrible. The makeup is literally caked on, and the brides look so overdone that they're hardly recognizable as themselves. You'll save a ton of money, especially since you should pay for the bridesmaid's makeup applications if you are requiring that they have it done professionally. If it's optional for them, then you don't have to pay.
But shop around for the style. That's kind of high for an updo, but not unrealistically so.

Compared to what I paid, thats a steal! Do not shop around for the best price! Go to the place that is going to make you look your best. If they are professional, you cant put a price on it. Be sure you get your hair & makeup done at the same place as well. You only get to do it once, just enjoy it!

That might be an appropriate price if it was a makeup team coming to the actual site of the ceremony and doing your parties' makeup on the spot. Perhaps ask them if it includes practice sessions to make sure you like your makeup with your hair?
The hair I understand. I would suspect as much from a spa for a wedding do.
Best of luck!

Hello,
Some times they charge more for the 1st person and they just happened to start with the bride and the bridesmaids are reduced to 45 because there are several.
Just a thought...I give the bride free and charge more for the bridesmaids.

wow thats crazy i think
i go to a spa and its 20 for makeup 35 for hair and 35 for nails..and these people do an awesome job
and bride is never more expensive sounds like a ripoff and you should deff shop around
it would be rude to even think about asking your bridesmaids to go to a place that charges that much

I at present personal infinite instruments of clip in hair extensions and performance also had glue in ones. The glue in setes fee about and on account that ur mum wont provide help to get your hair dyed I doubt she'd provide help to get them. a less intense priced and less difficult option is the clip in ones. i come across the finest position to yet bthem is ebay as there are sooo many judgements. They fee aroun £30 - £60 and make efficient its organic hair that you purchase. i could defo propose those.

Sounds about what I am paying for my hair and makeup too. I guess this must be the going rate for brides pampering. I think my makeup was a little cheaper though.
