Is this used casually among friends (you know, without romantic meaning)? like the way we might say "love ya lots" in English to a good friend?

If not, what in Spanish would be similar to the casual "love ya" in English?

I wouldn't use it unless you really mean it. It can be taken with a romantic twist for some people depending on where the are from. I would use it for good old friends only. For new friends use "con mucho cariño"...which is more like "with lots of care."

Some words or sayings change their meanings when translating. The phrase you're referring to in Spanish is more romantic than casual. bettyk

Yeah of course if i'm a boy im not gonna say that to another boy, unless you know but i don't so... haha it could be romantic or not but you can say that to a close friend without romantic meaning.

Yo can say Besos (kisses) also again with the male to male rule :P

Yes, in Spanish you can say "Te quiero" to a good friend. "Te amo" is I love you in a romantic way.

ok, i love this question lol

Te Quiero..... meaning - I appreciate a lot or I want you or
I love you.

Te Amo.... let say, it is when you love someone for real.
But, to me, it's a very strong statement, like you can give your life for the loved one!

But if you wanted to say in spanish friendly.

*Te aprecio mucho*
*Sabes? Te quiero mucho* wich it means a friendship love.

no no no, no chica no, don't say "te quiero mucho" if it is a friend, he might find you want to have a romantic NIGHT with him :P........say something like "besitos" (kisses) or "cuidate" (take care) or "un beso" (a kiss). I always say "cuidate" or "un beso" (i used un beso if it is a real close friend), cuidate is more appropiate i think.
