It is something to do with the vapors I think. I love vinegar and anything with vinegar. However the last 5 or 6 years I developed this allergy for anything that contains vinegar. I can eat the stuff but I gotta make sure I don't breathe through my mouth when I do so. If I happen to take an open mouth breath, I will end up with a coughing fit for 2-3 minutes. That goes for everything that has vinegar too I think, some ketchups high in vinegar, relish, etc..

My lungs feel as they are on fire and I can literally feel the vapors sticking to something in my lungs. I asked a few doctors and all they had to say was "stay away from foods that have vinegar" heh.. I had some vinegar and salt chips last night and after ending up in 3-4 coughing fits, I've been trying to see if I can find anything on the internet but it seems that there is no clear answer to be found..

Im not sure, you should go to your doctor and have a test to see what you are allergic to.

Maybe it isnt the vinegar.

Is somethign else also pulled out with the vinegar, like something else you could be allergic to vinegar?

It might be a different kind of vinegar or- Is it formaldehyde, by any chance? That does give off very strong fumes that can make you ill. And when I was in school, it was frequently used in science class and biology labs.

Chances are that the stuff the science teacher is using is probably far more concentrated than what you get in food (acetic acid), which does irritate the respiratory system. It may be that you are more sensitive than average.

I don't think so. My fiance is allergic to vinigar and his experiences at just the smell of it are horrible. Although alot of people that take a whiff of vinigar have that problem, like I do. If you can eat it though, you're not allergic to it, your nose is just overly sensitive to it.

well it depends...you could be allergic but vinegar also has a very strong smell that gives you a tingly feeling so it could also be the smell.

I don't think so, if you can eat all those things. Maybe you're allergic to the teacher
