I absolutely agree, I don't know why people have to be so disrespectful when it comes to religion... I feel like they are being blasphemous

When one says something, that person cannot always consider beforehand what he/she will or is saying. When a person talks about religion, someone else may consider anything the previous says offensive. I do not personally find what others say about religion offensive, because if that is what they truly believe, there is little to no possibility of changing their minds. I may try and answer that person's questions/smart alec comments, but there is only a hope of explaining to that person something they might not understand. Besides, there is always a way to be forgiven for what a person says or does... at least I hope so...

some people don't think, as you said

some people were mistreated as kids and they can't help it

just mean from being mistreated

religions worth their salt should be able to deal with some silliness though

if somebody really belives God and Jesus and whatever is really behind everything and what controls everything. Then if somebody tells a joke and it shakes that, maybe then they feel maybe it isn't true.

I think the apostle peter had the same problem where his mouth worked faster than his brain when he said to the effect, to Jesus respect going to Jerusalem to dye, 'Lord you are not of this destiny at all then Jesus said get behind me Satan...or somthing like that...you think mans thought not Gods..

Anyway, the challenge could be, if you are up to it, is turn it into somthing benefical for the others or just let it be.

I completely disagree. I'll say whatever I want about whatever I want. I don't mince words and I only respect the beliefs of others if they warrant respect. Beliefs based on bronze age mythology are not worthy of my respect. Tell my why they are and we've got something to talk about.

What I wonder is why so much of Christianity has a focus on punishment first instead of love. I do not believe 'we will be punished for every single... if that is true, what good is repentance?

If we were really to be punished for every wicked thought and every wicked deed, heaven would be empty.

Of course, heaven is imaginary- so let's think of another reason to be good to each other.

Just who are you afraid of? Your question only has meaning if you assume all that silly Christian mysticism is real. If you face up to the fact that all gods are imaginary, there's really nothing to fear.
