My mom and stepdad are going to the carribeans for 5 days in May. Friday-Tuesday. And my brother and I are teenagers. I am 15 and my brother is 14. I asked my mom if we can stay home while they are away. My mom said its illegal to let minors stay home for a certain amount of days. Is it really illegal or not?

yes it is. I was a foster parent for years, and if parents leave the kids under 17 alone for more than 3 days it's considered abandenment and the kids will be taken into protective custody

I believe it is illegal to leave a 15 year old and a 14 year old home by themselves. Too many bad things can happen.

Yes it is illegal. But my parents let me stay by my self for two weeks and i am only 14.(turning 15 this year). You have to earn their trust and maybe you can stay by yourself with your brother.

Call the police and ask, they will know and there is your answer. I did this to see what the legal age was to leave my children home alone. They answered my q. without any q in return
