What virtue is there in not believing the testimony God has borne concerning His Son?
Jesus said there is none good but One, namely God.

Perhaps you should do a bit of research into either religion History of at least Hell. The First Religions - predating the Christians and their Root Jews By a minimum of 4000+ years the ones with a Hell any way. add another 4000+ years for them if you want to. ( there was Religion before writing.) but We'll stick with Who had hell. Used to be No one went to any heaven, everyone who died went to Hell - the place where the dead went. Well accept for a Few Elite people who were good enough to get the favor or Eye of one of the Gods. So if you follow that. I'd bet yes. If you are a Norse, Don't die of old age or Illness. Die in Battle or holding a weapon at least, and you get to go to an eternal War / feast. Sort of a violent Heaven. there are Reincarnations. Be one of them.. and come back as something.. But if you want to go to heaven, Be a Cristian, follow their principals, and you Should not go to hell. If you Don't Hello long roast! But - don't worry, Eternity is a long time to Get out and Get em' back.

Generally speaking, if you have to ask the question of a religion, you don't want to hear the answer.
So, assuming you are asking about christianity, virtuous non-believers are on the 1277 Express to Hell (Blue Oyster Cult - great song).
However, you can take heart, you are correct to be a non-believer because it's all made up and it doesn't even make sense.

yes because good works alone do not save you from hell, you need to believe the Jesus is the Son of God and died for our sins and resurrected in 3 days.
and there is no such thing as purgatory...if you die you either go to heaven or hell there is no inbetween Revelations 3:15 - 16

One of the great guiding principles of Islam is that the believer should tread a path between fear and hope. He should not take it for granted that he will enter Paradise, because this will make him complacent, and he does not know in what state he will die. Nor should he assume that he is going to Hell, because this is despairing of the mercy of Allaah, which is forbidden. So the believer does righteous deeds, and hopes that Allaah will reward him for them, and he avoids evil deeds out of fear of the punishment of Allaah. If he commits a sin, he repents in order to gain forgiveness and protect himself from the punishment of Hell. Allaah forgives all sins and accepts the repentance of those who repent. If a believer fears that the good deeds he has sent on before him are not enough, as you suggest, then he will increase his efforts, in fear and hope. No matter how many righteous deeds he has sent on before him, he cannot rely on them and take them for granted, or else he will be doomed. He keeps striving and hoping for reward, and at the same time he fears lest his deeds be contaminated with any element of showing off, self-admiration, or anything that will lead to them being rejected by Allaah

I suppose it really depends on whose heaven or hell you're talking about.
Most religions seem to place reward (heaven) or punishment (hell) on moral or virtuous behaviour, or lack thereof. So, if you are a virtuous person, then you will go to the place of the virtuous.

Well..it is true that it shouldn't matter if you don't believe in it. Here is what I think, I don't think it really matters what religion you are as long as you follow in His ways and really love Him. But I do think that you can be of a religion and not go to heaven if you don't follow in His ways...even if you do believe in Him...because even the devil believes in God. Just the same... I believe that unless you have never heard of God and the possibility that He exists...then it was your choice to not believe in Him and in turn you have turned down His gift of salvation to you. You cannot be saved by your works alone...it is only through His grace. So if you choose not to accept Him as your savior, then you are choosing to not be saved.

Now I really don't want to make you mad, I get how people can be curious, I was too.
So, I went to a church and asked pretty much the same question and here's wht I was told:
"Sadly, yes. Being good has nothing to do with going to heaven, in order to go, you must accept Jesus as your LORD and savior."
So, I turned my life over to Christ and it's been pretty good ever since...

Not to be rude but if you are a none believer you will not go to heaven (in other words, you will go to hell). The only way to go to heaven after death is not by working your way to rightousness but simply asking God into your heart and asking him to forgive your sins (which he will do no matter how big of a mess your life is).
Think about it this way..........
If it just so happen that none believers are right and Christians turn out to be wrong, then the worst that could happen to you is you would go into none excistence.
If it just so happen that none believers are wrong and Christians turn out to be right, then the worst that could happen to you is you would burn in the lake of fire for eternity.
..........if you ask me.......it's not worth the risk.

People who dont know any better and have never heard of Hell might skirt by with being a non-believer,But people who ask about it... I have my doubts. If you never do any thing wrong according to the temptations listed in the Bible maybe things will play out in your favor.

For Dave P......................
You need to lay off the drugs and try living in the real world for awhile. If you truly want to know about God, then quit thinking you already know all you need to know and dismiss the possibility there is a God. Find a good Christian church (I would suggest Catholic Church ) and study what they believe. Then and only then could you make an informed decision about what true FAITH is all about. "The truth will set you free "
