there is different answers depending on the circumstance ifyou are under the age of 18 they can legaly sign the check in the back for you and write in care of Minor however if you are of legal age they cannot do it it is considered Forgery UNless you have a joint account with either one of your parents you can report the item lost with the federal tax beureoux but before anything make sure she really cashed it because it takes some time to get a new one

It is illegal for your mom to cash cheque that does not belong to her. It's a crime punishable by jail. Three options you can consider:
(1) Move on and drop the subject;
(2) File a formal report with the Tax Department. This would mean your mom may be penalized.
(3) Ask your mom to reimburse you the amount

I'm not sure why your mom did that (do you owe her tons of money?). The law states that the only person who has the right to endorse a check is the payee on the check. That said, what are you going to do? Sue your mother? It sounds like something else might be going on here.

If she signed your name to it, yes, that's forgery and a criminal offense. Now you're not likely to turn your mom in, but you could at least point that out to her and insist that she give you the money, unless you already owed her that much in which case what she did still wasn't right, but maybe is understandable.

If it was payable to you that is considered fraud...if you signed over the check and your parents double endorsed the check then you may not have recourse.
