absolutely. First of all, defining your boundaries is not being mean, it is being honest. It is something you HAVE TO do. Secondly, approach it from a "this other person means well" stand point. Because i am sure they do. So be nice but do noy back off from setting your boundaries. It is a way of loving and respecting yourself. It has nothing to do with this other person. and actually, people feel more comforatble with you and closer to you when they know that you will tell them honestly and without malice when they cross your boundaries or do something you are not ok with. Once again, it's not being mean, it doesn't mean you are a bad person or that you think the other person is but you HAVE TO set your boundaries. That defines who you are

This is taking the easy way out but... get a friend to ask the person why they treat you like you're special. It usually works well.
