Some people believe the most effective method is the gradual approach. Try swearing or cursing by false gods first. Try "Moloch damn it," or "Dyonisius H. Epiphanus." That way you won't be using the one, true God's name in vain.
The next step would by moving on to nonsense euphemisms like "Gol darn it," "Jeepers," and "Jiminy Cricket". You don't want to do it too soon or you'll feel silly. (But you don't want to wait too long or the real God will get jealous.) You can also simply swear by meaningless sounds like "Frap," or "Glorm".
Eventually you will become so self-conscious about it, you'll automatically stop.

Get into the Word of God and read daily what God wants you to know. When you catch yourself cursing, replace the curse word with a good word. It will eventually break the habit. Also you are a new creature in Christ Jesus and when the Holy Spirit comes in He will teach you all things. So remember that God is now in you and He is more than able to take you like you are and change you. What Christ begins He can finish. Trust God and pray without ceasing. If you feel frustrated - Praise Him. If you curse - Praise Him. If you get mad - Praise Him. Everytime you catch yourself sinning - just say "Praise the Lord." It works!!!

Make sure that you invite the Holy Spirit into your heart when you are being Baptized and pray that God will put a guard over your mouth and He will. Baptism is a symbol of dying to yourself, you are crucified with Christ and it is no longer you, who lives, but Christ in you. Just allow yourself to be filled and controled by the Holy Ghost and He will deliver you. He will also deliver you of other things. I know, He delivered me.

While in prayer, ask God to put a 'hedge' around you to protect you from those evil spirits around you that cause you to do that. If those bad words still keep coming out, I would suggest that you go on a 24 hr fast. And while on that fast, You and God have a real good talk about that. Keep asking God for strength. Please keep this scripture in mind; EPH 6:12. It really helps me....and I'm a truck driver! God bless

What I do is I shout nonsense words. So when I stub my toe, I scream something like "fruggooguls!". It relieves my tension without being obscene.
Admittably, some people have looked at me strangely when I yell "fork!" after breaking something, but on the whole it's really worked for me.

david said, "You're Words have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you"
- out of the abudance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
change your thinking by renewing your mind thru the Word.
Romans 12:1-2 - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

hey there,
Its a gradual process, each time you hear yourself say something, be aware of it, and next time try to avoid using such words,
you could start by replacing your harsh words, with less harsh ones, and gradually go from there,
And remember the English language is wonderful, and is full of descriptives, why would you need to junk it up with rubbish talk?
Oh, and read the book of James in the New Testament, and read what is says about "taming the tongue" take you only 3 minutes to read.

people who quit drinking alcohol are much more successful when they take on a 'pro-sobriety' attitude than when they adopt an 'anti-drinking' attitude.
I would suggest that you hold in mind the idea of speaking gently and lovingly.
Good luck!
