Raw pork contains living organisms that must be killed by heating. Raw pork of any kind will either make you extremely sick or possibly kill you.

A ham is typically smoked and cured in a salt mixture. Most hams are fine to eat without cooking but just make sure it is a processed ham and NOT raw uncured.

The risk of eating Raw ham are: none.. see unless you are at the place that is killing the pig you are not exposed to raw ham? Ham is cured and smoked. so the ham you get for cold meat sandwiches ( though cooked and served in different ways) is no different from the ham you get to cook at easter.
Raw bacon and olther pork prodjects are a different story bacon is only cured not smoked ( when it is smoked fully its becomes jerky) eating them can cause worms.
Now some one mentioned hamburg.. hamburg is not made of Ham its made of Beef. eting raw beef no because of mad cow isnt the best idea but eaterys use to serve raw hamburg as a fine meal. called steak tar tar.

Raw uncooked ham? Don't do it, you'll end up with a tape worm the size of texas. Beef? e coli. Fish and chicken: salmenella poisoning. Cook all your meat-never eat it raw. Kids used to eat raw hamburger and you can't do that today.

OK. raw pork products or under cooked pork products put you at nasty risk for trichinella parasites. (tichinosis) which can cause nausea diarrhea, fevers, headaches chills etc, even death. And the chances of it a are slightly higher than getting salmonella from undercooked chicken. While the meat of today is by far safer than it was in the past, it is still a nasty little parasite you don't want to get so cook your pork products fully.

did you mean smoked ham? or was ham short for hamburger? raw hamburger isn't good for you as it might have the E.Coli bacteria in it...but smoked ham you can eat right out of the package without cooking it, as it is fully cooked during the smoking process
