Tomorrow I am having an ear surgery to have my Mastoid Cholesteatoma removed( it's a skin cyst in the middle ear which becomes affected and erodes bone. It usually forms from chronic negavtive middle ear pressure which sucks the eardrum into the middle ear froming a retraction pocket.), and reconstruction to my eardrum area. I'm only 16 and don't know exactly what to expect afterwards. How long is the recovery? And what are the best things to do afterwards? And also, what should I expect? Anyone know or have been through this?

No but because its the ear it may be a bit painful. The ear affects a lot of things like balance and feeling dizzy and stuff like that so I would be careful and have someone aroud to make sure you are ok. Healing time usually depends on how you are if you are not healthy. If you are healthy I wouldn't worry too much because its normal to feel upset about any operation. Take care Heather
