my son turns a year old this sunday and later next month they are trying to terminate parental rights.

fight, and don't get your advice on here! this is a serious matter and i wouldn't waste my time listening to strangers, go find a lawyer and anyone who will back up your parenting skills....seriously

Why are they trying to terminate your rights? What did you do? They can't take your child away... unless there is evidence you did something to either harm or neglect your child. So unless you know of something they could have a hold over you for... I wouldn't worry to much.

Parental rights do not get terminated for being a good parent. Somehow I believe that neglect or abuse on your part has something to do with it.

I know it is a pretty personal question. If they can't declare you unfit, Fight it.
Otherwise, if I were you, I would get an attorney. You could also address this question to the legal section on this site. hope this helps.

Get an attorney first.
If you can show someone (first the attorney) that you are going to do what you need to do to try to get your child back it could possibly slow things up. The worst thing you could do is just do nothing.

If you REALLY don't want this fight back!!! You can, prove that you are a good and willing parent. Unless you can be proven unfit you are pretty safe.
