well first of all you want to wash your face twice a day (morning and night) prefferibaly at night before you go to bed. buy a soap that is appropriate to your skin type, you dont want to make matters worst and get an allergic reaction. this is why tooth apste and other home remidies sometimes make matters worst because you may be allergic to them. you also want to exfoliate your skin with aface mask once a week and apply face lotion afterward. this will help your acne problem diminish , slowly but surely!!! if you have oily skin, make sure to buy small face wipes to keep your pours clean and to help avoid any future breakouts... as remedie you can try that has no negative side effects is this one:: "for red pimples! if the redness is bothering you can try putting some "red eye" eye drops, this amazingly not only help your eyes but also helps to get rid of the redness in the pimple. (for pimples with white heads and redness) you'll need 1 tylenol tablet and a lemon. with a spoon break the the tablet and add 2-3 drops of lemon and mix until they make a paste. put it on the area of the pimple and leave itin for about 3-5 minutes , wash off your face and repeat once or twice a day. this varies with skin types sometimes you see immediate change, sometimes it takes longer. but! whatever you do do not touch the pimple with dirty hands or when you skin is dry!!!! you might risk breaking your sking and making itworst. if you do want to clean your pours and possibly "pop" some pimples , what you want to do is wash your face gently! and then afte ward get a small towel and wet it with hot water. let the towel become hot but not too hot that it might burn you. strain excessive water and place the hot towel in your face. the heat in the towel will open your pours so that with the same towel you can gently clean your pours, you do this by providing pressure with you two index finger in the area. be sure that your sking is soft and wait until after you have had the hot towel in your face for about 3-5 minutes. if hte towel becomes cold , submerge in hot water again. dont pinch your face to much! once you are done wash your face again only this time do it with cold water so that your pours can close. after ward dont forget to apply lotion... well i know this is a lot but i hope it can help you. if you have any more question , i be happy to answer them!

This is cheap, easy and effective.
I am now 47 and since childhood I have always cleaned my face with Listerine and cotton balls, especially over and around the nose and forehead area. You would not believe the dirt that comes off. With it being antiseptic you have an additional benefit. I have always had a clear, light complexion, my teachers even commented on this throughout high school. I still to this day use it to clean all my makeup off, though now I use a moisturizer after my face drys and bronzer for added color. As for a breakout, clean with the Listerine, if really red, hold an ice cube on it and before bedtime, put white toothpaste a dab will do. You don't have to rub it in, but make sure it's covered. by morning most of the red should be gone. Try to keep your fingers off your face. Always use cotton balls, q-tips, something sanitary
The Listerine should start drying alot of it over night.
My youngest - 18 wanted me to get pro-active, I ask her before I did just to try for a week using the Listerine. Mom was right, two days later, her breakout was gone. She has been blemish free for about 3 months now, which for her is a blessing. clean your face about 3 times a day for the first two days. When getting up, after school and before bedtime. You'll notice a difference before the week is up. When not necessary, clean all make-up off, like when you come home from school or work. Your skin can breath easier. do this until the breakouts stop.

Proactiv is a good acne medication. I have always had acne, and started to use it and my acne cleared up. It also makes your skin look healthier. If you dont want the whole regime of washing, cleaner and lotion get the refining mask. it works wonders and works quick.
and a little off the wall tip, Visine (yes the red eye drops) works to take the red out. I read that on the miss america website and tried it, it works as well.

Wash your face twice a day with Cetaphil Antibacterial Soap (3.00 at Wal-Mart), apply Benzoyl Peroxide (also at your local pharmacy), and then apply a moisturizer suited for your skin type.
It'll be a slow process, but if you really don't want the redness to be noticed, Visine Tears usually gets the redness out of the pimple....no lie. Just don't resort to popping them because it'll only make them more red, more swollen, and a bigger scar on your face.

For a temporary solution, use eye drops, they work the same as they do on eyes, by taking the redness out.
Long term, if you cleanse, tone, and moisturise with an oil-free skin care regime morning and night, it should help relieve some of the acne. Or, try visiting your local doctor, my sister got a little tube of special medicated pimple medication and it works wonders.

I use Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10. You put it right on the pimple and it dries it up. I put a thin layer all over my face at night right after I wash it. It keeps it from breaking out. I have been using this stuff for about 3 years now and I think it works great.

Topical (on the skin) solutions such as benzoyl peroxide (I use 2.5%) or salylic acid. You can find these in drug stores in many brands such as Neutrogena, Noxema or other brands such as Murad, Proactiv, AcneFree. These topical solutions are usually only effective on mild to moderate acne though.
I would also recommend using one of these solutions in conjuction with specialized care products such as an acne sulfur mask (to absorb of excess oil, clear blemishes and unclogs pores), pore strips (to remove blackheads). The sulfur mask is the one I found to work the best for me. I put it on at night and in the morning I see a visible difference in the redness and size.

Out of many products i've used, i've have to say proactive. It really does work! Once awhile there are one or two people that say that it doesn't work for them. but for most skins it works perfectly. My acne was gone in about two weeks. some people see results just over night. if that doesn't work, try seeing a dermatologist that can help you. There are many ways and the technology such as laser, treatments can help you get rid of your acne.
good luck!
