birds migrate between Mexico and the U.S. each year. why are they becoming endangered?

Habitat loss. They may migrate but they NEST also. So, you have the loss of appropriate habitat for shelter and food from building and water drainoff. You also have species introduction and overpopulation, feral cats are just one of them.

Not all birds are endangered, yet many are. For many it is still uknown, but a lot of the reason is loss of habitat or fragmentation (breaking up of habitat leaving more fringe habitat where the nests are easily predated upon). Also, introduction of exotic species, not only as parasites, but also as predators of nests and chicks. These exotics can also affect the bird's food supply, leading to a decrease in population size.
