Hepatitis C is contracted from blood to blood. You have to have an exposure of blood wtih an open sore for there to be a chance. If your grandson drank off a cup, he is fine. It is not a kissing disease like the guy below states. The virus only lives in blood, no other secretions. Don't worry.

HEP C is an STD and it's unlikely he will get the infection unless his uncle and your grandson both have open soars in the mouth. It's like getting AIDS and the chance is extremely small. If you want a piece of mind call your local physician and a simple blood test will ease all fears.

Listen to what happened to me. I got infectious hepatitis from supposedly eating lunch in a bar. My high school girly girl friend and I had never had sex. I'd never been around anyone with blood on their exterior skin. I'm a heterosexual red blooded male. My Doc. called it a kissing disease. Girl friend was never sick.
I had no desire to be in a house where food was being cooked. The smell of meat being fried, broiled or roasted made me vomit.
A simple blood test verified my Doc's best guess. My skin was yellow and whites of my eyes were as yellow as my skin.
Two weeks in a quarantined room eating antibiotics in a hospital slowly gave me some life. I was a tired dude for 6 months. I went back to my 40 hour full time job after two weeks out of the hospital. I thought I was going to drop dead. My Doc had written specific instructions that said I was to work half days for a month to the company. My boss or myself was never aware of the letter.
Just be very aware!

An extremely low risk. Hep. is passed mainly through contact with blood and other body secretions. Spit is a low risk fluid.

hep c is very contageous. I think that it is mostly through blood more so then just a sip after him. But I would prob call a doc just to be sure.
His uncle should not have let him do that

with fluid contact, 100%, if it was really recent contact with in the last hour, a strong dose of listerine should help lessen the odds quite a bit , but not eliminate them entirely. good luck
