Canada. They still respect law enforcement officers there...not like in the USA.

If you are looking for a Department to work for, I'd suggest you visit a few and talk to them. Find out the benefits, salary, and anything else you think is important. Every Officer works for a Department that is a good "fit" for them. You'll be better off seeing for yourself rather than taking advice from Yahoo Q&A.
IMO
Good luck.

One of The highest paid Suffolk County Police Department, N.Y., filing date deadline April 11Th.
Any department on Long Island seem to be the highest paid in the country. Nassau, Suffolk or the various Village Departments. Each negotiates off the others contracts.
Unfortunately NYPD can't keep up and their salary is considerable less.

You fail to understand, the things you describe are ok, as long as you live long enough to enjoy them. The risks of being a police officer is the same everywhere. There is no place where it is safer than the other.

do something else man...unless you want to be responsible for ruining more lives than you could ever save. however, if u decide to go thru with it, its easy as hell to become a cop in the commonwealth of va, and they get away with alot. i know, half of my hometown's sheriff's dept. was eventually indicted for various things.
