I have the same problem and it is my husband so I can not kick him out. Some nights I get NO SLEEP.
Causes:
overweight
sleep apnea
airway constriction
windpipe colapses during each breath
back sleeping
alcohol consumption
Cures:
lose weight
stop drinking
use Breathe Right nasal strips
Sew a golf ball in the back of his PJ shirt (when he rolls over he rolls back to his side).
Snore Spray (helps)
Nap during the day (if they are less tired they snore less)
meditation (helps them relax better and snore less)
take a sleep aide
I try to go to sleep before he comes to bed then I handle it better. Plus I have just found a natural sleep aide that really works called "Sleep MD" sold at Walgreens or Longs. It works the best. I take a blue pill and am sleeping within 5 minutes. It is amazing. Take that on only the real bad nights.
Also I hear a hard bed makes them snore more. Put a foam cushion on the top like a pillow topping. It seems to help.
Sleep Apnea needs medical intervention. If he snores but stops breathing in-between snores he has Apnea. Untreated it causes heart disease and even diabetes. Get him help if you notice that, have him checked.
Good Luck and Now I dont feel Like I am the only one with no sleep.

There are a variety of things to try. However, the recognition that he may have a problem is the first obstacle. Is he willing to look into a solution? If so, he should go to his regular doctor. That dr. should order a sleep study (that's where he spends a night at the hospital/clinic and they put sensors on him to check his breathing/snoring). After the sleep study, the doctor will be able to recommend the best course of action. Insurance should cover these studies/etc. These studies don't take long and he can have this resolved within a week or less.
In the meantime, some 'home remedies' and over-the-counter helps are: Breathe right strips, or there's one that goes into the nostrils and opens them up. There's a throat spray that supposedly keeps the throat tissues from swelling, laying on his side, or all of the above!
I'd also like to suggest that you invest in some comfy earplugs. They won't block the sound completely, but it does mute it enough for you to sleep through it.
And last but not least...make him go sleep on the couch! lol. Good luck and sweet dreams!
p.s. After having put up with a snoring husband for over 15 years...and going through all of the above...he divorced me! That's when I wished I had tried that sock him hard technique! Not only would I have gotten more sleep, I would have worked out a lot of my frustration!

My husband snored very loudly and actually stopped breathing at times. He found out he has Sleep Apnea! Have your boyfriend get it checked out if he snores that much! Something might be up with his airway or he may have Apnea.

For some people, removing polyps in the throat can cure snoring. If that's not an option, you can try preventing him from sleeping on his back (that's the favored snoring position).
If all else fails, you can always use earplugs.

Snoring can be a symptom of a serious condition like sleep apnea, even for younger men. Or he could have sinus problems. Have you talked to him about seeing a doctor to make sure that what is causing his condition is not serious?

Breathe right strips. I live by them, otherwise I wouldn't get any sleep either! They're anywhere from $7-$12 at almost any retail or pharmacy. Small price to pay for sleep!

He needs to lose a little weight. When the nasal passages and throat thicken up from weight it contributes to snoring and sleep apnea.
Try the Nasal strips.
When my husband was heavier, I would shake the bed and it would disturb him just enough to shift position and he would stop, at least until I got back to sleep.

there's a therapy to prevent snoring... see a doctor. also, you can roll him over to his side when he's snoring; that should help but then he can always roll back, and then you have to go on and on with the cycle. try getting a sleeping pill? hehe
