Why hate what one believes doesn't exist?
Is it God they are hating or is it the Religion or is it the people that practice it?

hmm I seem to have messed up by forgetting this part.
IF you hate God, and If you are an Atheist or a Naturalist, Why do You hate God so much?
I simply ask this question because I am interested to why there seems to be animosity towards christians, even on Yahoo Answers. Ive known a few people who claim themselves as Atheist or Naturalist and I can see they are totally capable to love and be kind and peaceful. What I am simply asking is the condition of If you do hate God, which means Im asking for maybe a personal opinion.
Sorry to be so general and predjudice.

oy vey!
we can't hate that which we don't believe
The warped Christian logic of evangalizing something that is outside of time and space is, at best niave, at worst religious fascism.
1. No belief system should depend on information that isn't demonstrable
2. Religions should never conflict with the physical world. The sun does not orbit around the earth, and humans and dinosaurs never coexisted.
3. Why should we know the reason for everything? We are still a very new species, just getting our technological afterburners going, in a vaaaast universe. It's ok to say "I don't know"
4. The simplest answer that accounts for everything is usually the best. It's much more likely that Mary conceived Jesus via sex with man (Joseph I hope) than that an invisible god that we look just like (by design) impregnated her with.. with uh invisible sperm? Or did he just adjust all the base pairs in the DNA of jesus to select which genetic traits he'd have from God (dad) vs Mary (mom). you see what i mean
Back to evangelicism: When I hear Christians try and "spread the word" I usually say nothing, unless they are aggressive. Then I think they are very very wrong and unethical.
Same's true for any religion

From what I’ve gathered many atheists hate religion, and God because they feel as if religion, particularly Christianity, is being forced into their lives. Most of the laws that we live by today can be traced back to the Ten Commandments. Not to mention most of the atheists that I’ve met engage in things that are against the will of God such as promiscuity, the use of drugs, and they also uphold homosexuality. These same people will fight for same sex marriages etc. when marriage is a sacrament given by God to a man and woman in the Bible.
They are angry because Christianity and religion rules! No one defeats God and His will! No One! Praise God!

sweetie, it doesn't make sense to hate something that you don't know if it exists. I am agnostic/atheist. I do not hate god. I do have a problem with religious people who try to force their beliefs on me because they think they know what's best for me or people who turn into judgemental nuns/priests when they hear i do not hold similar beliefs as they do.
The main reason why theists think they are hated by atheists is because most atheists left religion because they do not agree with it and do not want to subscribe to the "do this or else you go to hell" tenet of most religions. And guess who brings that to you consistently? Yep, good ol' evangelical christians.
For goodness sake, live and let live

As an atheist, I don't hate God.
I believe there is no God, so how could I hate him?
You're mistaken if you believe that atheists hate God, religion or believers in general.
Okay... we may hate the fact that millions of people have been murdered in the name of certain religions... but that's not answering your question, is it?

I don't. I respect all beliefs people may have. I suppose some people think that they are just better than others just because they have different beliefs.

Nothing of the sort. There are hate-filled people called fundamentalists who lie and say certain people hate God and them. They repeat the lie so much they begin to believe it. What hate-monger have you been listening to?

They don't hate God because they don't believe in God. They simply don't want the *believers* trying to force their belief of God on them. Big difference.

The acts of the people inspired by the religion.
As you said, an atheist would not hate what he doesn't believe in.

I think it's the fact that the atheists don't like Christians always telling them they're going to Hell, so they get defensive. They don't hate God. They see Christians as Christians see them: poor, misguided people who must see the truth. It's just that each side has their own version of truth.
