I really want to highlight my hair, but the problem is that my mom doesn't allow me too, yet my dad actually allows me but he always tells me to check with my mom first. So, i was wondering if i could do anything to let her allow me to highlight my hair? My graduation is comming up (im in grade 8 btw.) so i was thinking of asking my mom to let me highlight my hair so i can look good at the graduation...but im a bit too scared to. Any suggestions? Oh and..what color do you think would look good on asian hair? =)

If your mom says no, then you'd better respect that.

Just sit down with her and ask nicely. Explain why you want and that you don't want a huge change, just nice highlights for a subtle difference. Tell her you'll pay for it even. Tell her just to think about it and then drop the subject. Then the next day just bring it up nicely. Have an idea of what you want before you ask her though.

If you've got dark hair and just want to highlight it, I would get some lowlights of a color just a little bit lighter than what you have. Lowlights will allow all of your hair to look lighter. Good luck!

Better to beg forgiveness than ask for permission. The hair is on your head - you can do what you want.

Although, it probably would be better if you can sweet talk your mom into taking you to the salon to have it done. You don't want to walk around looking like a freak.

well...i was also trying to get my mom to let me dye my hair. and she said ok. this is what i did. i sat her down and told her that i wanted to dye my hair black. she started to object but i told her that it comes out in about 8 - 10 washes and it is temporary. so that if it came out to look bad it would only be for a couple of days or possibly weeks. also i told her that i would pay for it and then she agreed. my dad didnt really care.

i hope that helps.
