If your fishing for "plants" (Dept. of Fish & Game hatchery stocked Rainbows) I'd go with the old favorite, Berkleys "Power Bait".
However, if ya' like native's, Panther Martin black body with yellow spots (spinner) would be my choice, along with Blue Fox (spinner) or a Kastmaster.
Ya' may even go with a "Hot-Shot" lure (smallest size) made by Luhr Jensen, I use them for Steelhead, but have knocked the h _ _ l outta' their non sea-run Rainbow "cousins". Good luck opening day and "Fish On"...

well i love to trout fish. If they are stocked trout i would go with powerbait, meal worms, or night crawlers. If not my favs are a orange or green Mepps Roostertail, but my all time is a Phoebe (Walmart) in Gold or Silver. A piece of corn is good too (if it's legal in your state)

Flys!
Well not really. This early in the sason I usually stick to nymphs. Sometimes terrestrials work well too. That said, take a look in the water see what typs of insects are floating in it. Carfully turn over a rock or two and see what's there.
