i can hardly stand reading this question.....scratch scratch.
omg...heehee....ok...I dont mean to laugh....lol...really...
but I have to say, I got mine earlier, in January. I went for a walk in the woods. sheesh...ya think we could be free of this in the winter huh? Just reading your question made me itchy.
I heard that you can get steroid shots, but remember its hard on your system, you should take calcium supplements in combination.
As well, be careful of overdoing the creams, it causes pigmentation and thinning of the skin.
My reactions were treated with creams and prednisone. It worked~
If someone tells you to try bleach, dont do it! It burns the already sensitive skin. I was a mess. Not only did I have rashes from the poison ivy, I burnt my damn skin. sigh.

The other thing I try- take a long hot soapy bath. I dunno if it reduces the impact, but it sure makes me feel better. Sometimes if its really bad, i pulverize oatmeal through a blender and put in the tub. I dont know if that really works either but hey...if your hungry at the same time, just grab a ladel;)
Seriously though, your treatment for the rashes will depend on the severity. Doctors dont like dishing out these drugs, although great for treating rashes, its hard on the body.

Severe reactions can be treated with prescription oral corticosteroids. They are usually prescribed if the rash is on the face, genitals, or covers more than 30 percent of the body. The drug must be taken for at least 14 days, and preferably over a three-week period, says FDA's Ko. Shorter courses of treatment, he warns, will cause a rebound with an even more severe rash.

There are a number of OTC products to help dry up the oozing blisters, including:

aluminum acetate (Burrows solution)
baking soda
Aveeno (oatmeal bath)
aluminum hydroxide gel
calamine
kaolin
zinc acetate
zinc carbonate
zinc oxide
Ok! I hope I answered it for ya......Im outta here....Im so friggin itchyy I cant stand myself! Seriously my face is burning already. LOL.

Go to your family doctor and ask for the poison ivy pack. It contains 6 pills and in 5 days the poison ivy will be gone. He or she will write you a prescription. lol.

Hi honey!!! It seems as if you're an upcoming bride, but you're having a poison ivy problem--uh-oh!!! Don't panic, though!! I would advise that you see your dermatologist for any skin treatments, but when I had poison ivy, I got an allergy shot for it and used Caladryl. I wish the best for you!!!

If the poison Ivy is severe enough to require hospitalization, sometimes they give an injection of cortisone steroids. After the injection you experience relief in about an hour.

So... I'm not the only one with that problem. When I got poisen Ivy last year, I mixed bleach and water. That relieves it, and helps it go away. Just becareful not to get too much bleach in the water, you could burn yourself. I don't remember the exact proportions, but it doesn't take much bleach at all. Hope this helps!
