By definition a Jew is one who is born of a Jewish mother or undergoes conversion in accordance with Jewish law.

Now Judaism is the Jewish religion, and who is not Jewish one becomes Jewish only by authentic conversion.

If your point is that someone could theoretically be a non-Jew and still practice the tenets of the faith, that is just something that does not happen.

Because once you practice that religion, then you are of that religion.

Those who practice Christianity are Christians.
Those who practice Islam are Muslim.
Those who practice Buddhism are Buddhists.

Judaism isn't a race, it's a religion.

There are NO genes that exist that make a person JEWISH. Ask any anthropologist. Ask it in the anthropology section. Ask it in the biology section. You are a fool if you believe that "to be a true Jew you must have the genes."

You're genes come from your heritage: Polish, Israeli, German, etc. NOT "Jewish" There is no country called "judaism" because it's not a country, it's a religion. One's lineage does NOT determine one's religion.

You're a damned fool if you believe that Judiasm is a type of genetic.

There are two conception to the word Jewish...

One is the person who practices judaism.
The other is a person who belongs to an ethnical(not really) group of people that practice the religion and share certain habits.

Both are equally valid.

Mostly becasue they don't understand all the intricicies of being accepted as such. I practiced it for several years, during my relitionship with my first wife, but I never called myself Jewish. I never had a Bar-Mitzvah nor went through any of the education or ritual initiations. I would have if she hadn't died...but..well...

I guess we assume...when a person "practices" something..they are trying to perfect it..and take it as an identity.

For instance the "Practice of Medicine" is usually done by Doctors..not Gardeners.
