I had a bad straightener in October of last year. I had no other processes other than demi hair color since then. The straightener melted my fine thin naturally curly hair and I went to a hairdresser who against my wishes cut most of it all off and I was left with a short chin length cut that makes it look even more damaged. It didn't even look NEAR as bad when it was shoulder length!!! Now it looks thinner just from being shorter and I'm depressed and cry all the time and my husband is tired of me being this way. I dread the wind and going outdoors. I used to not be this way and I want my life back. Since the straightener was back in October, and I haven't had anything except one demicolor since then (to match my roots and make it look fuller and this was done by a color expert who is VERY familiar with fine thin hair), are there any type of safe body waves/perms to just put in the bottom (not crown it's got some wave to it) to make the bottom fuller as my curly roots grow out?

I just wanted to add that my hair is EXTREMELY soft, it isn't the dry wirey type of damage, it is cotton candy/airy soft and fine and thin. I wish it was wirey to have some texture.

I feel for you! I have fine, thin hair as well....I took prenatal vitamins for a long time to be sure that I had enough nutrients to promote healthy hair growth. There's also a shampoo you can get from your hairdresser called.....hmmmm.....can't remember but it helps thin hair grow thicker by unclogging the hair follicles. I would avoid doing anything to your hair at all until the damaged hair grows out.

STOP NOW!
no more color
no more straitning
NO MORE ANYTHING

you need to deep condition and use a volumeizing shampoo i recomed Garnier fructis products they work well.

But you need to leave your hair alone so it can get thicker and healthier, just let it grow out. And a perm will give you a heart attack becasue your hair will fall out if you do! So just be patient, and it will grow better!

you really need someone to see it, and feel it to tell you if it is in good enough condition to do that. I doubt it, but you could go to a salon (the one you went to for the color is best because they know your hair) and get a consultation. Good luck !
