If the pope said 'We must reclaim the holy land and we all must go there and kill the infidels', would you do as you were told? After all, the pope is god's agent on earth and is infallible.

(If anyone says 'That wouldn't happen', try reading some history.)

Pastor Billy says: isn't that what the army is doing in Iraq?

I mean seriously now crusade doesn't automatically mean killing. If the pope called for a crusade I would sign up.

If anyone says "That wouldn't happen, try reading all of history"
like the Jewish crusades and the Protestant crusades and the current secular crusades of national governments.

Get the story straight and you'll be fine asker

Hell no! That is NOT what Jesus would do.

The pope is most certainly NOT infallible. Papal infallibility only refers to teachings on faith that are proclaimed "ex cathedra." It has only been used twice in the last 200 years and both teachings were about Mary. And "God's agent on earth?" uh, he's the leader of the Catholic church, but that doesn't make him any closer to God than the rest of us.

(I think it's time for you to try reading some theology.)

Ehem...

Let me clarify.

Papal infallibility does not mean the pope is never wrong. Papal infallibility means - as Jesus said to Peter - what you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. What you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Or as our Pagan cousins say, As above, so below.

If B16 announced a crusade, I'd be quite certain he went off his noodle and I would pray for him.

There is still a Franciscan contingent in charge of certain parts of the Holy Land. Check out the link below.

The Pope will never say that and if he did nobody will care. Most Catholics don't folow what the Pope says nor do we tune in everytime he speaks. We are not zombies but humans with individual minds. I wouldn't care if he said that.
