"These territories are a part of the United States. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the U.S. territory and do not need to present a passport. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands."

Next time before you waste 5 points do a search on this question. It's been asked many times. No you do not need a passport as an American citizen to travel to PR.

As everyone else has said. If you are a US citizen you do not need a passport, just a valid state issued ID.

No need for a passport, it's a possession of the USA. Bring your birth certificate and photo ID just to prove identity.

PR is a US Territory so you do not need a passport if you are a US Citizen.
