Hi, I am interested in buying a bike but don't really know much about them I was looking at bikes in argos for about £100 but I would lie to use it daily so I am not sure if it would work for long ?

does anyone here have any advice about buying a cheap but reliable bike ? I have a budget of only around £200 is it possible to get a quality one for that ?

thanks for any help :)

Try going to craigslist.com

post a message stating what you need and your area... and you'll probably get results.

check the for sale section too.

I've gotten a lot of great things from the site. including my puppies!!!! lol

Basically, there are 3 main styles of bikes:

-A road bike, with smooth tires to be ridden on roads. This is what pro-cyclists use (think Tour de France) and they can get very expensive.

-A mountain bike: Designed for off-road biking. This bike has thick, knobby tires and a durable frame. They are relatively cheap.

-Hybrid bike: Offers the best of both worlds. A fairly sturdy frame with wide, smooth tires. Ideal if you plan to ride on uneven pavement, bike paths, etc. These bikes are moderately expensive.

If you want a new bike, I'd really recommend a hybrid bike. They're great for city riding over crooked sidewalks and potholes. They're also sturdy so it wouldn't be a problem to ride it off road a bit. I own one and I love it. I paid about $300 for mine - which works out to about 152 GBP.
