Actually we know from science that there was never a world wide flood. There were regional floods but never the entire planet all at once.
Another way to look at the flood idea which was written to be of the world is found in Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
There is NO WAY Caesar was going to get people in India, China, The Old Norse regions, etc to pay a tax to him!
The world refered to is the world as they knew it meaning their little piece of the world not the entire world!

Science is not exact. There IS EVIDENCE of a world wide flood. Scientists who have that opinion, can't agree on where the water came from. The world flood believers do have some evidence of superheated water trapped below the earths crust under the oceans began to rupture in the middle east and continued around the globe under the seas.

The great flood didn't happen to wipe out the animal kingdom, but humanity except for Noah and his family because they found grace. They believed in God when no one else did. Of course with the flood the land animals were killed except for those taken into the ark. Fish, well, I think you know the answer to that.

Well from a scientific viewpoint some scholars believe that the actual "flood" was not a world wide event, but a regional one. That would explain why not "every" creature was destroyed. That makes sense to me.
If your going to take everything in the Bible literally, you will find lots of inconsistencies. The Bible is interpretable, whether you choose to or not is your own decisions, but it will make a heck of alot more sense if you use some common sense along with it.

Noah's family were the only people that survived. Therefore, we are all inbred.
