With spring here I have been reminded of a problem that I have had for awhile. I am a very clean person, I bathe daily and use an antiperspirant/deodorant daily. By about mid-day my arm pits really stink though. What's wrong here? What should I do? I also have sensitive skin, so I don't want to use something really harsh.

I really want to do something because I know it's not just me that thinks they stink. My ex-boyfriend was actually the one that first made me aware of this:(

Try washing with hydrogen peroxide. The handy release of oxygen when it contacts organics and or infection should kill those nasty bacteria causing he stink, and lighten up any hair you have on them too. I say that is a reason to be happy. So be happy and STINK NO MORE!

A couple of suggestions:
#1.
Have you ever done a detox? The glands under your arms are not only excreting perspiration, but they are also excreting toxins from your body. Depending on your diet, meds, lifestyle, your body may be slowly getting rid of toxins through your sweat glands.
Go to your local health food store and get some info or recommendations on detox kits. Ask for something gentle if this is your first time. Expect to get a little more fragrant during the detox while your body expels the bad stuff, but hopefully in the long run it will help.
#2.
Perhaps you are not using the right deodorant. I personally stay away from anti-perspirants due to the aluminum content, but I regularly use deodorants - and I can tell you from trial and error that not all are equal! I try to shake it up and regularly change brands or scents within brands. Somedays I am offending myself before I even get to work! Go to your local health food store and look for some natural deodorants. Try ones that contain essential oils like lavender, patchouli, tea tree - they are all anti-bacterial. Expect to try out a few different brands before you find something that works with your chemistry.
#3.
Your diet and elimination. Some people's bodies deal with strong foods like spices, onions or garlic differently than others. I am not saying that you should cut out anything that you enjoy just in the hopes of not having to wear it the next day as your body processes it. Just be aware that your system may be sensitive to volatile compounds.
Your daily elimination could also be playing a factor. If you are not voiding you bowels withing 12-24 hours of a meal, the remains are just sitting in your colon with your body reabsorbing. Make sure that your elimination process is as frequent as your intake.

Everybody's chemistry is different. Some people have stronger natural fragrances than other. Some people are going to be attracted to it, others not. My partner has never smelled bad to me - and trust me, after 4 days out in the forest he was smelling bad to everybody else!
Best wishes!

Unfortunatly, some of us have more active sweat glands then others. Most likely, if it tends to work in the morning and wears off by the afternoon, you just need to apply it more often. I am assuming that you have tried different brands. I would just re-apply a few more times throughout the day. Another tip is to put some talcum powder under your arms before applying the antipersperint!

One thing u could do is try to take a mid day break wash ur pits well then reapply the deoderant. If ur not interested in that i beleive it is degree....one deoderant brand....now has a stronger formula available. I cannot remember what theyre calling it but it use to only b available by perscription. Go to walmart and look around the deoderant aisle ull find it.

Ask your doctor for a low dose deoderant. It irritates you skin if you use it more that once every 3 days but you will be happy its def. worth it! GOOD LUCK!
