Gender is a biological attribute, and in so far as god is not biological then god has no gender.

Jehovah refers to himself as male for our sake, be have limited understanding at this time.
Jehovah does refer to himself as a Manly God of War, so that we can comprehend that his is and has the power and ability to fulfill his holy word.

I think the bible just calls God a he, because if it didn't, he would have to be called "it," and that would be disrespectful.
I don't think God has a gender because what's the point of having a gender if you don't have sex? Nothing in heaven has sex, according to Jesus.

While God is referred to as "Him", "He", "His", etc. it is understood that God the Father is a being, not male or female.
We respect, fear, the Lord and speak to Him as our Father, yet is the supreme being.
