to live in a meaningless world that you completely understand and see through the bull**** that surrounds you at the expense of blind happiness.
or to live in an innocent, oblivious world of foolish happiness, unable to see through the fog and illusions that we call 'typical life', to live a ordinary typical tacky life that you've been told by others to believe is a 'good' life.
they both suck in my opinion, but every single persons life at its core is one of these two, which are you and which would you want? for matrix nerds, the blue blue pill, or the red?

Reality sucks, but it's better than the alternatives.
The day I want to live in a world of foolish happiness, I'll toss out both of your pills and take the black pill (for M.A.S.H. nerds). If you cannot suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune then make your quietus with a bare bodkin (for Hamlet nerds).

I don't honestly know.
I don't have a typical life; don't completely understand the world; see through a lot of illusions (though I could never be sure it was all); and find life meaningful.
Actually - I get the impression that you're equating atheists with the former and xians with the latter, but xians think they have it all figured out and see through the illusions, and their lives are actually filled with fear and self-loathing.

As a Buddhist, I believe that once we recognize we are living blindly and have false beliefs then we can work to remove the haze and return to our natural state of being: Happy (Joyful, ecstatic, free).

Purple pill all the way! look behind the curtains of reality and what you see is a mirror. Do you like what you see?

I kind of like reality, because even though you live a totally crappy live, you still get a chance to live in the eternally perfect heaven. So, blue pill.

But it's not meaningless. I create meaning and accept responsibility for my choices. The choice is not between those two options.

I would rather live a blind, faithful life. Unfortunately, I am too smart for that.

i disagree friend, while we have no ultimate meaning, we still have purpose. pleasure is what motivates us, we all want it maybe some want it in a different form than others. think about it, you wouldn't help a homeless person if you didn't feel good about it later.
