I feed Zupreem. Whether you choose organic or the colored fruit blend, they are both great. It's actually better, or at least my birds think so than Harrison's or any of the others. They'll toss anything else at me, but Zupreem they all love.

I would say that it's better than LeFaber's.

Lafeber's is a good start for pellets. However, I can think of some better researched brands that look deeper into nutritional value, and even better, are organic. For hookbills (your parakeet) especially, these are ideal foods:

- Harrison's. Highly trusted, apparently has a scent/taste similar to peanuts. Most birds love peanuts, but can rarely be fed them because they can carry bacteria and are fattening. People also claim birds who eat Harrison's do what's called a "Harrison's moult". They moult their feathers when they've had the diet conversion, and grow in much softer, brighter feathers due to the pellets. They're also organic. No artificial colours. Comes in a variety of flavours and different nutritional additions. http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/products/index.html
- Roudybush. Also well researched and highly trusted. My second choice after Harrison's. Very well loved, nice size ranges, nice texture, actually quite fun to eat. No artificial colours. They also have special diets for finches and canaries, so all of your birds' food can be bought with Roudybush, as suggested by their site or a site representative (they reply very quickly) if you choose to contact them personally. http://www.roudybush.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.selector
- Zupreem. I highly recommend the natural pellets in Avian Entrees without any colours or seeds (artificial colours can cause internal damage sometimes, and will dye the colour of the poop and make it difficult to use poop to judge the health of your bird). My birds love vegetables, so I buy them Garden Goodness for small birds. There are other varieties, too, so if your birds like different vegetables or spicy foods, you can easily get those. http://www.zupreem.com/animal/bird/nourish/avian_entrees.shtml

If you're wary about weaning them onto these new foods, they're always more than happy to send out free samples and I was able to get samples of all the foods I considered before beginning to convert.

Pretty Bird is NOT the same as Zupreem. Zupreem is of better quality. Many parrot owners I know look down on this brand and wouldn't recommend it.
Lafeber is not just seed. If you actually look at it, you can see it has pellets in it and can be good to start teaching birds to eat the pellets when they eat the seed around it.

Yes there are many quality Diets out there, I'm in the Pet Industry for 27 years.
LM Animal Farms Bonanza=Kaytee Fiesta
Zoo Preme is about the same as Pretty Bird.
Avi Cakes is a seed diet placed in a form to help cut down on the mess, it is a good product but I feel falls under the 1st group
or 2nd. You need to give more info on what kind of birds before I can say more.
