in my opinion, if religion didn't exist, human beings would find something similar to fill the void. I studied anthropology a lot in college and the one thing I saw for sure is that humans have an innate need to believe in something greater than themselves, especially in times of difficulty, pain or death. Humans don't want to believe that when they die that their existence ends. So I think we would always find a way to create if not religion then something like it. Another reason is that religion is a very good tool for manipulating other people and that's another thing mankind has in it's nature, the need to dominate, control and manipulate each other. Religion is a handy tool for that. To a certain degree, without religion, is government much different?
In my opinion, religion is fine, personal faith is great. It is organized religion that causes problems. It causes people to judge and kill and hate all in the name of God and love. Religion separates, creates differences where there were none and forces people to feel bad in the name of God. I think the world would be better if organized religion had never existed and everyone just had their own beliefs. The problem with that is that man is a social creature and those with similar beliefs would come together in groups and hence, organized religion is born again. no pun intended.

A lot better!! Lots of lives saved, 9/11 wouldn't have happened. Since most of what is going on in the middle east is religion based. Most wars are fought over a religion. Our government would run smoother cause we wouldn't have these idiots stopping life saving things being passed. And we wouldn't have all this PC garbage. Wouldn't have to worry about offending someones religion!! Or have to accommodate everyone different beliefs.

If everyone would exchange their religion for a relationship, the world would be like Heaven.

You see, Jesus said no one would enter the kingdom who was not baptized by water and the Spirit. Baptizing means you have died to your ole "religious" ways, rising from the water means you are resurrected to a new life, and that includes living a new life with the Holy Spirit leading.

By the way, the Bible says: He who says he knows Him and does not keep His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him.

So, those who do not obey God are just like the religious bigots that killed Jesus, and who sacrifice their children to blow-up innocent people in the name of God. They have rejected God's saving grace--the Kingdom of God is NOT in them.

You and I, dear girl, would not have the right to vote. Deeply religious people fought for that.

You and I would be forced into marriages we did not want. Deeply religious people fought for our equality.

You wouldn't have any African American friends. Deeply religious people fought for their freedom.

Deeply religious people discovered and founded American.

The list goes on and on. But I think you get the point.

This song was written by a man imprisoned for fighting for women's equality.

My life flows on in endless song;
Above earth’s lamentation
I hear the sweet though far off hymn
That hails a new creation:
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul—

How can I keep from singing?

What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Savior liveth;
What though the darkness gather round!
Songs in the night He giveth:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging;
Since Christ is Lord of Heav’n and earth,

How can I keep from singing?

I lift mine eyes; the cloud grows thin;
I see the blue above it;
And day by day this pathway smoothes
Since first I learned to love it:
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing:
All things are mine since I am His—

How can I keep from singing?

You'd instantly solve some of the world's conflicts in the Middle East and significantly curb irrational thinking. That wouldn't necessarily make the world a better place, but it would be a start in the right direction.

As far as religion goes I can do with it, because alot of it is man made and has not much to do with God, I don't believe God is a religion..The word religion is just a word to me, but God is everything to me..

I don't think it's possible. You are probably considering the modern religious giants but even if those weren't on top there are still others. People of all nations have always needed something to believe in larger than themselves in order to explain the world around them. The problem is more with closed minded standardization, not with faith.

It may not be an organized religion, but the world will never go without something/someone being worshiped. For example, celebrities.

Better.

Unfortunately, a world without religion just isn't possible.

People are born ignorant and ignorance is the ultimate source of religion.

The existence of religion is unavoidable.
