He's probably just a little shook up. Try to hold him in a warm blanket for a while in your arms. And talk to him in a slow, soothing voice. Then soon he'll realize he's ok. Do this a couple of times a day until he is better. Then you can also try playing some games with him (fetch, chase, etc.) But DONT scare him or make sudden jumpy movements. Dont yell around him also. He should get better in a few days and if you're planning on taking him back to the groomers, keep doing this routine until he realizes its ok and he's not hurt. It will probably take about 4 or more times. He WILL get better! =]

He was probably scared by the whole process. Strange people, strange smells, other dogs, loud noises. These can be pretty scary things to a dog that has never experienced it before. Next time you take him to the groomer, stay and watch and do NOT let them use a cage dryer. This can overheat the dog and kill it. I'm a dog groomer and I only use freestanding dryers. Another possibility is that your dog may be embarrassed if he got a haircut. This does happen! Most dogs love it but some don't. I agree with everyone else when they say just give him lots of love and attention and keep an eye on the groomers!

How long did the shaking last? If he is acting scared and especially during contact with people for hours or days after wards, he has probably been traumatized. This does not mean that he was mistreated, it just means he had a reaction to the experience. Dogs live in the moment and it may be normal to be shook up after a grooming or vet visit for a few minutes. I might not take him back to that groomer just to be safe. If you are so inclined, call the groomer and ask questions about his behavior and experience there without, and this is important, without confronting or accusing. The purpose of the call is to gain information and insight about the incident.

Hold him. It's a new thing. Wrap him up in a little blanket and hold him for a while.

Have you seen the groomer in action? I take my dogs to a dog wash place where you can do it yourself or have it done professionally. I washed them myself a few times just to observe how the girls there were with the dogs. They love the dogs they groom and both my dogs are the happiest dogs in the world after grooming. They love it and it shows.

He probably is scared. Give him lots of attention and love. Make sure you know the process of grooming wherever you take him to. I quit taking our dog to the groomers about 6 years ago after what I saw on tv. There was a special segment on the news about it. After the grooming, baths, etc., they put them in small cages and turn high powered heaters (with fans) on them to dry. Some of the pets were dead and others had serious medical problems that didn't show up until later. I now groom ours myself. Never again will I take the chance of letting the groomers do it.

That does not sound normal. Please, call your vet and let him/her know what your dog is doing, and see what the vet recommends. Also, please give your dog lots of lovins and maybe a treat. But definiely, please call your vet about your dog. Take care.
