Web MD has a forum on anxiety. You might try that. It helps to read what others are going through and to know you're not alone or weird. They also have lots of info on the topic that is not forum-based. Pregnancy certainly does add to the problem in that there are limitations on the drugs you can take while pregnant. However, drugs are not always necessary and I would use the resources on that site to look for counseling or ask your OB/GYN for a referral next time you go for a prenatal visit. Good luck with that and please know that you are not alone. I lived with it for over 30 years before I took action and helped myself through therapy, counseling and, ultimately, medicine. The change is phenomenal.

The best long term solution i found is to practice chi lel chi gong almost every day for years. It actually builds and balances your body energy so you don't have anxiety attacks. I could go on here for a long time but you probably won't pay any attention to this answer anyway, so email me if you want more info. or just google chi lel chi gong. Don't do the one where you just stand in place with your hands in front of your navel for a few minutes. That might make you sick unless you've already been doing this for a few years.

Stress is basically another word for constant FEAR (or stress). When you feel fear (stressed) your body produces adrenaline. Adrenaline is the "Fight or Flight" hormone, which can 'pump' you up so you can fight or give you more energy so you can run. When stressed your body also shuts down functions other than the 'fight or flight' so you are able to move quickly and increases your tolerance to pain (you may feel numb). For example, under stress your body will stop digesting food and more blood will flow to your arms and legs. Under stress due to extra adrenaline you might have racing heartbeat, chest pain, cold hands and feet, muscle twitches.

After the stress is over and your adrenaline levels begin to drop, you may experience adrenaline withdrawal - like a hangover after drinking. Some symptoms of adrenaline withdrawal are dry mouth/tickle in throat, numbness, dizziness/lightheartedness, trembling, trouble breathing, stiffness. This adrenalin rush followed by adrenalin withdrawal is responsible for the feelings associated with panic attacks. Once you start experiencing the fear/adrenalin/withdrawal then the symptoms themselves become frightening and lead to more anxiety. It becomes a vicious cycle.

Also, Emotions are just ENERGIES IN MOTION in our bodies. According to Dr. John Gray (who wrote What You Feel You Can Heal) emotions are meant to FLOW through your body and be released. The amount of time we should feel an emotion is only a few seconds! If your anxiety is constant it is because you are trying to NOT FEEL it and therefore blocking its release.

Every time you don't allow yourself or you aren't allowed to fully experience an emotion, to feel it, and to move through it, the energy of that emotion becomes stopped and blocked in your body. It remains blocked until you go back and re-experience that emotion. Then the energetic block is freed and cleared. Virtually all of our physical ailments come from energetic blocks in our bodies, energetic patterns that are connected to our emotional patterns

To ease your anxiety (fear) please try EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or 'emotional tapping,' It's very easy to learn (you can learn the basics in less than one-half hour). You can use it anytime, anywhere for any physical or emotional issue. To learn EFT please go to the Emotional Freedom website (www.emofree.com) and download the FREE EFT Instruction Manual. One basic round of EFT takes about one minute.

I learned how to use EFT last year and now use it everyday. EFT really works. - ONE TECHNIQUE YOU CAN USE RIGHT NOW to reduce your anxiety levels is to just TAP LIGHTLY ON THE SIDE OF EITHER HAND (where you would do a karate chop) for about one minute.
