probably not because back in the day it was more a health thing than a religious thing. its just like kosher laws for jews. those came about to protect people from rotting food. read the recent reports, circumcision is suppossed to cut your risk for contracting HIV substantially. I think those early jews were probably a little skeptical but probably recognized the importance of the act as a means to keep clean.

Circumcision is a very old Semitic practice. It predates Judaism.

I dont think anyone said that - God would have killed them instantly for saying such an abomination!!
Although it seems gross to us, it was the preformance of cutting off the unclean skin, so that they could be pure.
It made perfect sence to them!!!

Probably not. A lot of tribal traditions include some sort of 'self mutilation'
