Although I believe in GOD and consider myself religous, I agree with you. The awsome Jesus hung out with what was considered the bad people and he defended the ones who would have been stoned to death. If you consider yourself to be christian you have to understand the meaning of the word, and since the root of the word is CHRIST then to be christian is to be "like Christ". Most christians from what I can see are not christian at all, some of the best lessons Jesus taught were the simplest. IE: " Judge thee not lest thee be judged" Jesus never claimed any superiority, when he was asked if he was king of the jews he simply replied " thou sayeth it" and when Jesus was confronted by satan his only words were "get behind me" and shortly before he died he made it a point to forgive the very people who crucified him. From what I can see there are some people who do not believe in GOD that are more Christ like than many Christians. If you truly believe in something you do not have to run around and pound your chest over it, however it is just as disgraceful to pretend you really don't believe in God just because it appears to be the popular thing to do. I have far more respect for someone who will put some effort into finding out the truth and disregarding everything that I think is obvious than I would someone who can't even develop thier own convictions but rely on people who have established themselves to be atheists. The bottom line is this, believing in GOD makes life better especially in times of trouble so for that reason I wish that everyone believed in GOD however if you are truly a good person and you claim to be an atheist thats ok, I know you are good because GOD is whispering in your ear, you just can't consiously hear him.Peace

Personally, I think most people look at belief systems the wrong way round. If we believe that we are created then surely our creator had a purpose for us. If he has a purpose for us, wouldn't he explain that to us? When we make something, don't we value it? I know I do. So, I believe our creator gave us guidance on the best way to live our lives and he wants us to be happy (Isaiah 48:17). But also, as the creator he has the right to tell us how to live our lives. Therefore, what is the most important thing out of everything, is "How does God want me to worship him?", "What exactly does the Bible tell me to do?", "Do I follow his laws and guidance to the best of my ability?" If I can do that, I know I will be happy and I know I'll be pleasing him. (Proverbs 27:11) Also, as the Bible tells me to love my enemies and my neighbour, I will be peacable, loving and kind. When Jesus was on the earth, and also looking through righteous people mentioned in the Bible, we shouldn't tolerate any deviation from the truth and righteousness as explained by God and Jesus - Jesus condemned the Pharisees for their hypocrisy, God had various nations destroyed because of the gross indecency and their wickedness (such as in Sodom and Gomorrah). So yes, we must stick to the truth, not accept false worship, but at the same time be loving and kind. None of us can do this perfectly, all we can do is try.

Christians are supposed to love the person and hate the sin. Some use the bible viciously against unbelievers. We are only to cast out Christians that openly sin and defile our Lord and his Church.
You pose a good point and I agree. I wonder why or how can we tell people of our excitement of God in our life and want to share our experience without coming across ed as a negative thing. I had a great talk to a Scientologist today and we both felt respected. I think it may just take mature people who are comfortable in their belief and can communicate openly and not get angered so easily. Every one searches of a certain level of respect in life and don't feel they are heard when people don't take time to listen. Slow to speak and Quick to listen. Read answers to questions people have and hear the insults and where they come from and in what forum. I encourage more Christians to reach out in Love for it binds them together or it appears as Holier than thou hypocrisy

Your right, why does it matter?
I dont necessarily have a "belief system" I just live how I feel i should. Not in fear of any punishment or consequence. But how I WANT to live. And I want to live my life as a good person. Who knows common sense and has her own morals. People would be so much happier if we all lived this way. I dont judge other people because like you said, as long as they are doing good, who cares?

Any Belief System (B.S.) creates closed-mindedness and unacceptance to anything else, no matter how much contradictory evidence is presented. Humanity's growth will be very slow while so many people are stuck in closed Belief Systems. 2+2=5.

One would be the truth. If there is no God, then anything that will make you happy and possibly keep the world civil is probably OK.
If there is a God and your actions here and now will have an affect for the eternities than finding learning more about God is probably important.

it should have place for every one in it
all human beings with all types and kinds
accept them as they are and try to change them to the best
but not to re-program them to be religious robots , do as told , no thinking , no questions ...
all connected to a God that I can believe is the true God , the creator of all , not a God for jews or arabs or black .. not a God for humans only .. a universal and Global God
a God we - all creatures - can feel connected to , not by books , but by mind , spirit , soul and body
that's what should matter most in a belife system
for me
