Golden Retrievers. An amazingly great dog. They are one of the most popular breeds and it is no wonder why. I would suggest getting a female and/or runt of the litter. Females tend not to be so enormous and an average weight for one is about 70 lbs. Runts and females tend to be a bit more calm, so if you are gone for most of the day, they will work into it easier. They love to play, run, and just be moving. Good with other animals - they are very kind. I have noticed that they always seem to be aware of your emotions and there for you to lean on. The only thing to be careful of is their chewing. Goldens have a very strong urge to chew, but if you keep things out of their reach when away and maybe leave a nlyabone or two, they will be fine. Love muffins, playmates, and everthing else all in a furry body. I strongly suggest you get this breed. It will be the best thing you will ever do.

You need to try the Animal Planet Dog Breed Selector. I posted a link to it below for you. It will show you the percentage that the breed is for you at the end. Good Luck! :)

I suggest that you research the dog breeds you think you may be interested in. See if it will fit into your life style.
You can go to
www.dogbreedinfo.com
or www.puppydogweb.com to research different breeds.
You can also check out your local kennels and ask them questions reguarding the breed.
Check with your local animal shelters to see if they have what you may be looking for.

America's favorite, golden retriever.
Labs, collies are good too. Steer clear of shepherds, mine loved cats, in a bad way.

older lab or golden. older dogs can amuse themselves during the day and most are already trained, but most people want little yappers or puppies, so they are the last to be adopted, but make absolutely wonderful pets. i would check out your local animal shelter.
