Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The first followers were called believers of "The Way", based on Jesus' statement in the gospel of John," I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life."

If another Christian wants to say that Christianity is a religion, I won't get offended. We have enough separating us now to quibble over this.

I have seen christians here claim its not a religion, but a relationship with God. They are preforming semantic back bends. The American Heritage Dictionary defines religion as:

1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.

Christianity certainly fits this defintion. I think they claim its not religion to try and set it apart as being "real" as opposed to everyone elses religion.

Religion: a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny.

Christians believe in supernatural powers, so yes, Christianity is a religion.

You may be referring to the fact that many Christians are non-denominational. This just means they don't commit to one sect of Christianity (such as Catholocism, Presbytarian, Methodist, Lutheran, etc.). Non-denominational Christians usually base their knowledge solely on the bible and its teachings.

No, of course not, Christianity is a recognized world belief that meets the criteria of such. I have heard this statement before though from Christians who claimed to be the "new Jews".

Christianity is an acknowledgement that you follow Jesus Christ. True Christians have a personal relationship with Christ and have faith in the grace and peace of salvation in Him.
Religion is man's interpretation of any belief system in an attempt to understand that system.

Yes ... it is a way of life with answers about the next life, the way to live this current life, and what happens when you die.

Interestingly, my understanding is that Buddists do not consider their beliefs to consist of being a religion.

Sometimes Christians say it's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but I would say it is a religion.
