Whenever two or more divergent groups of people are forced to live together, usually because of invasion or government failure, there can only be one of two results.
Either a dominant group takes power, usually through violence, and kills off the other group or they learn to get along.
Historically, there is always envy, bloodshed, discrimination, human rights violations, to one degree or another.
Perhaps we should be more concerned with not forcing contrary cultures together in the first place. It is after all, the only way to avoid bloodshed.
What we should have learned from history is there is an economic, social, emotional, political price to be paid every time. Often to the point of wiping out entire cultures, races, wealth, customs and laws.
Being a “citizen of the world” may sound quaint, but we are becoming a world of nomads, with few of us even knowing where home is.
It’s why God gave us Mountains, deserts, rivers, oceans and borders.
Maybe there is good reason to just slow down and stay home.

I hate to use the "Race-Card"; however its apparent. Both Haitians and Cubans and any other group of individuals under dourest; should not be allowed to jump in front of the line to immigrate to the United States. Not only is the "One Wet Foot; One Dry Foot" policy wrong, it in itself shows racism at its worst concept.
The shade of a person's skin color; should never be a criteria for admittance, or citizenship. In regards to the statement about gangs made by person above; I can't name any race, ethic groups of persons who have come to the USA, and didn't start or become a part of a gang. Ironicly, its the only equal opportunity coponent, we all share.
Nonetheless; we quickly send the Haitians and Asians back; and turn a blind eye to those from the Southern Hemisphere. Are we or not a country of equal opportunity? What makes those from Cuba situations any worse than Communist China; Darfur in Africa; Starvation in Ethiopia; Palestinians in Israel; and Russian Jews?

Yes they should because they broke the law. I don't beleive it's fair that they are, since there's 12 to 20 million illegals already here getting a free ride. That's why amnesty is a huge mistake. As it spreads how one group ...yet again....get's rewarded for for breaking the law....it gives another wave of people from other places a hope to get amnesty as well. WE CANNOT SAVE THE WORLD. Most of these places are in far worse shape than Mexico. And our government seems determined to bring it right DOWN to those levels. I know Cuba, because of it's communist ties, gets a better ride than those of other countries. There are H-holes in this world and none of these people deserve to live like they are. We just can't save them all. Their own governments have to start taking responsibility in some way.
If I had a choice....I'd take the Haitians. Atleast they are greatful and would ask for mercy. Not be jerks demanding more.

The whole "feet dry" policy in regard to Cubans entering the country is just another failure brought about by the Carter administration.
The reality is we can not keep the doors wide open to anyone who wants to enter and expect to prosper as a nation.
ANYONE who enters this country illegally needs to be sent back where they came from, REGARDLESS of where.

No. They'e cool. Besides Haiti is in chaos. One of my best friends is Haitian and his parents were killed by the government. Yeh. It's that bad. The reason why Cubans can stay is that Cuba is communist and Haiti is not.

It is Cubans who are the anomally, not Haitians. Cuban policy was created quickly in time of confrontation with Cuba. I understand that Bush in creating guidelines for bringing in more family of Cubans here is preparing to regularize that immigration as well, once Castro dies and assuming the situation warrants it.

People think they are so high that they cant help the Haitians, but they need the help just like Cubans. They shoulndt be deported because no one should deny another human being the right to the American dream. Just because Fidel Casto is in power and people die trying to escape, its okay for them to enter illegally. I think Bush has some major race issues he needed to work out BEFORE he became president.

Well, first all Cubans don't get to stay here. Also, anyone who comes into this country illegally should be deported no matter where they came from.
